Bringing Good Jobs to Western Pennsylvania

Western Pennsylvanians should not have to leave home to find jobs and opportunity elsewhere in the country. We can only reverse that trend by continuing to encourage economic development here. Melissa has a longtime commitment and record of success in fighting for jobs in Western Pennsylvania. As a member of Congress, Melissa successfully fought for important legislation that provided federal assistance for cleaning up abandoned industrial sites (known as brownfields) and turning them into economic development opportunities to grow jobs, not weeds. She also sponsored legislation to help local technology companies acquire the capital they need to grow and create new high tech jobs. Melissa was instrumental in getting Route 60 designated as a federal interstate highway, making more funding available for improvements. Now, Route 60 is on the map as a federal highway, which helps communicate to out of state businesses that Beaver and Lawrence Counties are very accessible - thereby increasing business in the area.
